Advance your career while helping others advance theirs! Are you interested in supervising colleagues working toward their LCSW? The New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners (NJ-BSWE) mandates the completion of a 20-hour post-graduate Clinical Supervision course for those aspiring to become clinical supervisors. This four-day online workshop fulfills that requirement and offers an engaging, comprehensive learning experience. Designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills necessary for effective, ethical, and supportive clinical supervision, this course is an invaluable opportunity for professional growth.


Throughout the course, you will explore key topics through a mix of lectures, discussions, and interactive learning. This dynamic training will provide you with practical tools and real-world applications to become a confident and effective clinical supervisor. Join us for this interactive, engaging course, and take the next step in advancing your career while helping to guide the next generation of clinical social workers!


This online workshop will be conducted via the Zoom platform. Each live session will have a designated registrar who serves as the primary contact before, during, and after the workshop. The registrar will be available via phone or Zoom starting 30 minutes before the session and up to 30 minutes after its conclusion. Participants who need additional support in navigating Zoom will be offered extra time beforehand for guidance.


To ensure full engagement, the workshop is limited to 25 participants, allowing everyone to be visible on a single screen. Participants are required to keep their cameras on throughout the course. This course is highly interactive, requiring active participation from all attendees.


Learning Objectives

  • Identify the stages of development in your supervisee using the IDM framework.

  • Recognize the importance of a supervisory contract and its key components.

  • Demonstrate how to create a supportive learning environment for supervisees.

  • Explain when an LSW in NJ is legally required to obtain clinical supervision.

  • Name one way clinical supervisors can minimize liability.

  • Describe why personal and professional self-care is an ethical responsibility.

  • Demonstrate how to model cultural competence in clinical supervision.

  • Determine how you will teach supervisee's to identify transference and countertransference.

  • Demonstrate how to address potential risks in supervision, including client safety and supervisee well-being.

  • Interpret NJ-BSWE regulations on clinical supervision to ensure compliance.

  • Describe the NASW Best Practice concept of the “three-legged stool” of clinical supervision and its application in the practice environment.

This Clinical Supervision course is tailored for NJ social workers who want to become approved clinical supervisors.


Content is geared towards intermediate level (i.e. LSW's working toward LCSW licensure) or advanced level participants (i.e. social workers with 3 years of LCSW experience). This course is highly interactive, requiring active participation from all participants The instructor will facilitate engagement through large group discussions, thought-provoking questions, and small group activities in breakout rooms. Additionally, interactive features such as chat, polls and quizzes will be utilized to enhance learning and encourage participation throughout the session.

“Scottie”, is founder of Psychodrama New Jersey, a training institute and psychotherapy practice, and has a combined 30 years of experience in psychodrama, creative arts therapies, psychology, and social work. She is past President of the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry, & Group Psychotherapy (2021-2024), and an approved clinical supervisor for social workers in NJ. A passionate educator, she presents workshops, trainings, and seminars nationally on the topics of psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy.

Continuing Education & Training Information


Participants must participate in the entire course and complete a course evaluation to be eligible for CE credit and Supervisor Certificate. The CE certificate/Supervisor Certificate is provided via email within one week of completing the course evaluation.


Psychodrama NJ, provider number 2273, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 6/25/25-6/25/26. Social workers completing this course receive 20 total credits including 12 Clinical, 5 Ethics, and 3 Cultural Competence continuing education credits.

 

Please note, the NJ Board of Social Work Examiners (NJBSWE) is the final authority for continuing education credit for NJ Social Workers. ASWB ACE providers are acceptable sources of continuing education credit for New Jersey Social Workers as of 4/15/2024.



Registration Information: Fees, Refunds, Accommodations, Grievances

Registration: You must register in advance to attend. You can register online or by calling the office directly at 732-686-9427. Registration is closed when the event has reached capacity or three days prior to the course start date, whichever occurs first.


Tuition: $375 Includes: CE and Clinical Supervision Certificate, educational materials, & 50-minute follow up consultation*. Save $25 when you pay by check, Venmo or Zelle.


Payments: Payment of $375 can be made by credit or debit card through the online registration process or a payment of $350 can be made by check, Venmo or Zelle. To pay by check, Venmo or Zelle complete the online registration process, then choose “Manual Payment”. Make checks out to Psychodrama NJ, and mail to Psychodrama NJ, c/o Scottie Urmey, 220 Monmouth Road, Suite 7, Oakhurst, NJ, 07755 as soon as possible.


If we do not receive payment within 10 days of registration we will have to release your space.

Refunds: Full refunds are given for cancellations made 3 weeks before the training is scheduled to start, minus a $20 credit card processing fee if applicable. Cancellations made with less than 3 weeks notice will be refunded minus $125 cancellation fee. Refund requests should be submitted in writing and directed to the registrar, Portia Festejo Portia@PsychodramaNJ.com. No refunds are offered for cancellations after the event has begun. This course requires a commitment to attend the full 4-day's. 


Attendance: This event is held live, on line and is a highly interactive learning event so everyone’s prompt arrival and full attendance is important. Participants are required to arrive 5 minutes before the course begins and be able to attend the entire event. Camera's must be on during the entire course. Microphones must be working and attendees should feel comfortable with using the microphone features of their device. Participants MUST attend from a distraction free, private and safe location. Participants should not be driving, working, or tending to other activities during course time. This is not only unsafe it is a distraction to other participants and doesn't meet the NJ-BSWE course requirements for participation.

50-minute follow up: Tuition includes a 50-minute follow-up consultation with the instructor, Scottie Urmey, LCSW, TEP. This online consultation can be scheduled anytime between the last day of the course and up to one year afterward. Scottie recognizes that participants often have follow-up questions as they begin providing clinical supervision. This consultation is one way Scottie supports and encourages new supervisors on their journey. Please Note, this 50-minute consultation session is NOT eligible for Continuing Education credit.
