Scottie Urmey, LCSW, TEP, ACS
Clinical Therapist, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Founder & Director of PNJ
I’m Scottie , a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a board-certified trainer, educator, psychodrama practitioner (TEP). Whether I’m teaching, supervising, or providing therapy, I bring warmth, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate life’s challenges.

As the founder and clinical director of Psychodrama New Jersey (PNJ), I ensure therapy is a safe, supportive, and deeply healing experience. By integrating Psychodrama—a mind-body, action-oriented therapy—and mindfulness, I help clients shift their perspectives, heal from the past, develop healthy relationships, and move confidently toward their goals.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology & Cognitive Processing from Saint Peter’s University and my Master's in Social Work from Monmouth University with a focus on working with children and families. My career began as a therapist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where I worked in the Children’s Partial Hospital and Therapeutic Nursery programs. I later served as the Senior Clinician in Monmouth Medical Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program, supporting adults, and led a program assisting those impacted by the trauma of Hurricane Sandy.

When I founded Psychodrama New Jersey, my goal was to merge my background in creative arts therapies, psychological research, and extensive psychodrama training together to provide meaningful, embodied, and effective care. I’ve taught Psychodrama & Group Psychotherapy as an adjunct professor at Monmouth University and currently teach Clinical Supervision in their School of Social Work Professional Education Program. This state-required 20-hour course helps social workers become approved Clinical Social Work Supervisors in New Jersey.

I’ve had the privilege of serving as President of the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry & Group Psychotherapy and volunteering for the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama. My professional focus allows me to support adults facing anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.

I also have a special passion for helping psychotherapists and healthcare professionals address the secondary trauma that can arise from their work. I create a compassionate, nurturing space where caregivers can heal and grow while continuing to support others.
If you’re feeling “stuck” due to anxiety, grief, or trauma, I can help. Together, we’ll work to heal emotional pain, build resilience, and create positive momentum toward your goals. Let’s connect and start your journey toward growth and transformation today.
