Tamara "Shosei" Cafaro, PMHNP-BC, CP, PAT

Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified Psychodramatist

I am an ANCC Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of mental health nursing experience, including 13 years as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse. My work is rooted in the belief that healing is a holistic, creative, spiritual and collaborative process, honoring all parts of self and guided by our own innate wisdom and inner healing resources. My goal is to empower you to discover your existing internal resources and learn to trust in life as forward-moving. I feel strongly about the role of community and relational connection in accessing a deeper understanding of ourselves, relational wounding and solutions in healing.

Having worked in and witnessed both the strengths and the limitations of traditional medical settings for most of my career, I place tremendous value on personalized, holistic and non-traditional structures. My practice is intentionally centered on a more connected, thoughtful and integrative approach to care. I collaborate closely with clients and their psychotherapists to offer a more illuminated and grounded understanding of how medicine can facilitate a healing journey—not as a substitute for psychotherapeutic work, but as a complement to it.

I became a Certified Practitioner (CP) of Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy in 2018 after 12 years of intensive experiential training and with an intention to bring greater healing into my own life and into my practice as a mental health nurse. I continue to train as a Practitioner Applicant for Trainer (PAT), hoping to inspire other providers to incorporate non-medication structures into their healing practices as well.

I have specialized training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) through both the Psychedelic Somatic Institute and the Ketamine Training Center, expanding my capacity to support clients through transformative and integrative healing experiences.

My approach is intentionally non-traditional, holistic, and spiritually informed. I am not the right fit if you are simply seeking a prescription. I am best suited for clients who value a more thoughtful and collaborative process—one that explores medication as a potential supplement to the deeper healing that occurs through psychotherapy, self-discovery and connection.
