Psychotherapy Services

Psychodrama New Jersey offers a variety of clinical services including psychiatric medication services and individual, couples, family, and group therapy.

All of our clinicians have advanced training and certifications in psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy. Our clinical work is rooted in the psychodrama and sociometry framework, which approaches people holistically by engaging emotions, actions, relationships, meaning-making, and personal values rather than focusing only on thoughts or symptoms alone.

Psychodrama is an experiential approach that allows people to explore thoughts, feelings, and relationships through gently guided action rather than conversation alone. No acting skills are necessary. The action may be as simple as walking, moving to a different seat, or using your imagination to explore a situation from a new perspective. Sociometry focuses on understanding and strengthening human connections. It helps people recognize patterns in relationships and supports the development of meaningful, healthy connections with others.

Psychodrama integrates easily with many other therapeutic approaches. When combined with modalities such as CBT, DBT, EFT, and other traditional talk therapy approaches, clients can gain new perspectives, expand their roles, and move forward in life, leading to more flexible and fulfilling ways of living and relating to others.

Group Psychotherapy

Group psychotherapy provides a powerful therapeutic space where individuals can explore their experiences while also learning from the perspectives and support of others.

Psychodrama can help people who feel “stuck” gain new perspectives, experiment with new roles and responses, and discover creative solutions that move them toward their goals.

Group therapy can be especially beneficial when combined with individual therapy and psychiatric medication services (when needed), allowing clients to receive support across multiple dimensions of care, accelerating growth and change.

Some of our current groups focus on:

  • Psychodrama and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills

  • Resilience building for women.

  • Cancer

  • Grief and Loss

  • Caregiver support
