"I would rate Psychodrama NJ a 10 out of 5 stars if I could! I signed up for a the 6 month training course and I'm so happy that I did. Initially I signed up for professional development and loved that it covers basically all of our CEU's for the next 2 years. But I am getting so much more than I bargained for out of this course. First of all, our leader Scottie is hands down incredible. What a gift to be able to learn from her kind and compassionate wisdom. Also, to connect with a group of local like minded professionals is so wonderful. Furthermore, this group has become like a second family to me. In telling my other therapist friends about this group I shared that it feels like I was adopted into a family I didn't even know I needed. If you're on the fence at all about psychodrama and are looking for a sign as to whether to do it or not, look no further. Run, do not walk, to sign up for this course with Psychodrama New Jersey!"

"This past week, I had the privilege of diving into an intensive psychodrama training, Psychodrama New Jersey, and WOW—what an unforgettable experience!
As part of my research journey, I'm exploring the incredible intersection of psychodrama and the creative process of directing a play. This training opened my eyes to powerful therapeutic methodologies that will influence my work with actors and deepen the emotional and creative potential of storytelling on stage.
I’m beyond grateful to the amazing group of individuals who shared their wisdom, energy, and support throughout this transformative experience—you truly made it special. A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to Scottie Urmey for facilitating this life-changing training and inspiring new dimensions in my work."

At Psychodrama NJ, we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming, safe, and affirming environment for all participants. We recognize that all who arrive in our space are here to learn and grow. We honor each participant’s presence, perspectives, and willingness to engage in meaningful learning experiences.

We proudly support individuals of all abilities, religious and spiritual backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ identities, BIPOC communities, and personal characteristics. Our goal is to ensure that every participant feels valued, respected, and supported throughout their time with us.

Our educational programs are intentionally designed to create an inclusive and enriching learning environment, where professionals and students from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences can connect, expand their skills, and foster deeper understanding.

To uphold a space of integrity, safety, and mutual care, we ask all participants to contribute to our culture of respect and affirmation. Together, we co-create and co-sustain a community built on trust, respect, and safety.

Trainings & workshops are designed to be educational and are attended by students and professionals with various educational and professional backgrounds ranging from beginner to advanced skill levels. To be a board Certified Practitioner (CP) in psychodrama one must be a Masters level licensed mental health professional. Therefore, material presented in training and workshops typically build upon techniques, knowledge and skills learned in collegiate level courses. Participants of trainings and workshops are attended by students or practitioners of Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Pastoral Counseling, Expressive Arts Therapies, Art Therapy, Dance/ Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Music Therapy.

It's also good to know how trainings & workshops differ. Workshops range from a few hours to a full day and are designed for those seeking either an introduction or a refresher. Training, on the other hand, is akin to a college course. Each training session builds upon the other allowing for a greater depth of knowledge and skills practice than a one-time workshop could provide. Training requires a more significant time commitment. Therefore, beginner students and professionals are encouraged to attend a workshop before starting in a training group.
