Presenters:

Scottie Urmey, LCSW, TEP, is the founder of Psychodrama New Jersey, a training institute and psychotherapy practice dedicated to advancing psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy. With more than 30 years of experience integrating psychodrama, creative arts therapies, psychology, and social work, Scottie is a respected clinician, educator, and mentor in the field. She served as President of the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry, & Group Psychotherapy (2021–2024) and is an Approved Clinical Supervisor for social workers in New Jersey. A passionate teacher and trainer, Scottie presents professional trainings and workshops that support clinicians in developing their own experiential, relational, and trauma-informed approaches to clinical practice.

Dr. Yehuda Rubin, LCSW, DSW, CP/PAT integrates psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy with evidence-based approaches to create effective therapeutic interventions. A sought-after therapist, he maintains a private practice offering individual, couples, and group psychodrama treatment. Dr. Rubin brings advanced psychodramatic training alongside a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with notable training through the Beck Institute and Dr. Charles Swenson. His approach weaves cognitive insight with action methods, somatic awareness, and relational depth to support lasting symptom relief.

As training partners, Scottie and Yehuda bring complementary perspectives, teaching styles, and clinical experience to their work together. Throughout the Munch & Learn series, they will co-present or teach individually depending on the topic and their respective areas of expertise. Their partnership offers participants a more comprehensive learning experience while also providing an opportunity to observe collaboration in action. Together, Scottie and Yehuda strive to co-create a learning environment that values curiosity, spontaneity, dialogue, and multiple perspectives. Their complementary styles demonstrate that there is not simply one way to practice psychodrama, and invite participants to develop an approach that is both grounded in theory and authentic to who they are as practitioners.

Inclusivity Position & Agreement

Psychodrama NJ recognizes that nothing is value-free. Every learning space reflects a set of guiding principles, and we want our participants to be clear about the values that shape our learning events. Our programs are grounded in, and intentionally aligned with, the core values and ethics of the Social Work profession and APA’s principles, including dignity and worth of every person, self-determination, social justice, integrity, cultural humility, and an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

In a world that has become increasingly divisive in recent times, it is more important than ever that everyone who enters our space agrees to co-create and maintain an environment of safety, respect, and mutual care. We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming, safe, and affirming environment for all participants. We honor each person’s presence, perspectives, and willingness to engage vulnerably in meaningful learning.

We proudly welcome and affirm individuals of all religious identities and spiritual traditions (including the full spectrum of religious observance and practice) as well as LGBTQIA+ identities, BIPOC communities, neurodivergent individuals, people of all abilities, and those with diverse identities, perspectives, and lived experiences.

We expect each person’s identities and lived experiences to be afforded the same respect. We recognize that every person who enters our learning space brings multiple and intersecting identities and lived experiences, including our trainers, co-trainers, and presenters. We ask everyone to approach one another with curiosity and humility rather than assumption, recognizing that we cannot know the fullness of another person’s identity or experience simply by what we see or believe we know about them.

We believe that together, we build a culture rooted in trust, safety, transparency, and shared responsibility. By attending a Psychodrama NJ event, you are agreeing to help co-create an atmosphere of mutual respect, openness, and inclusion for everyone in the room. This means honoring one another’s identities, experiences, perspectives, practices, and boundaries, even when they differ from our own. If you have questions or concerns about your ability to participate in this way, please contact Scottie directly.

Accommodations, Accessibility & Comfort:

We want you to know what to expect so you can make an informed decision about whether the learning environment will meet your needs.

Learning Environment: Psychodrama NJ strives to create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment. Our workshops welcome participants with a wide range of educational, professional, and life experiences. Some participants attend for continuing education or certification hours, while others come simply because they are curious, enjoy learning, and are interested in the topic. We use an adult learning model that is collaborative and less hierarchical, recognizing that valuable knowledge, experience, and learning can emerge from many resources within the group.
